"...2 and a half reasons why Fiber is unneeded for everyday use."
Obviously your not a gamer...
Sorry not to be rude, but the average gaming can easily use 1100kbs download in intense situations and the full upload, 300kbs+. Now as far as my house hold I have 2 gaming systems running a full 8 hrs every evening and, well, all weekend.
My point, everybody, including service providers set the speeds for the "average household" but the average house hold can easily max the bandwidth, videos, mp3s, GAMING. this is obserd way of thinking. Have you ever read the policies of your provider? The one, I'm about to be forced to, states that if the bandwidth is excesive for any length of time, they have the right to disconnect and discontinue service.
I currently am on cable internet, not real happy with it, but I do get in upwards of 2800kbp download and 345kbs upload speeds. Everything is good at this level. Now I'm about to move to an area that is DSL..........
But they only proved the same current speeds as the satelite providers offer; 900kbs/100kbs. what is this.... AND at the same price as I pay for 3mbs Cable.
seriously im looking for something that i can play pc games such as call of duty4 and counter strike i want a internet that im going to be able to trust i dont want this ohh its not running fast enough today crap.. should i go with fiber if not wats better but still s reasonable price
You guys haven't got the right info. Not only is dsl more secure it can give 6 megs consistently not shared with your whole neighborhood. The FTTP(fiber to the premises) that AT&T is rolling out will make everything look like it is standing still. Look up Verizon Fios- downloads 30Megs per second and uploads 5 Megs. At&T's structure UVERSE is even more powerful than that. Everyone will be on Fiber or get left behind like people with dial-up today. The people gaming with Cable connections are the ones who's player's lock up and get killed. The ones doing the killing on the games are the ones on a dedicated line and speed. Everyone will see for themselves this year. Stop believing the commercials on tv, the DSL customers do all of the advertising needed for the truth. word of mouth. Talk to any tech personnel that knows the difference
In my point of view fibre is just a media like a cable, but its have a Infinte bandwidth of data transfer speed. And even we can go for thousands and thousands of Tera bytes per second speed if the end equipemtns supports. in India using only single core step index fiber. few days back scientists proved that if we can do a scracth in inside the core of the fibre for getting a Tera Bytes Per Second data with no extra hardware (Possible only while manufacturing). so very soon we can enjoy the very very high speed internet with fibre in our homes.
If your Windows XP denies to start due to an error related to missing HAL.DLL, invalid Boot.ini or any other important system boot files you can fix this by using the XP installation CD. Just boot from your XP Setup CD and enter the Recovery Console. Then launch "attrib -H -R -S" on the C:\Boot.ini file and delete it. Run "Bootcfg /Rebuild" and then Fixboot
